THE CLEAN DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM AND THE KYOTO PROTOCOL The United Nations Convention on Climate Change

چکیده
Solar home systems are an excellent fit for the Clean Development Mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol because they directly displace greenhouse gas emissions while contributing to sustainable rural development. Selling emission reduction credits under the CDM could provide additional revenues for SHSs. However, high transaction costs related to CDM procedures might prevent SHSs from benefiting from CDM revenues. This paper explores how standardised baselines and streamlined monitoring and verification procedures could assist in reducing those transaction costs.

Clean Development Mechanism (cdm) Projects and the South African Mining Industry: Key Legal Issues for Consideration
The international legal foundation of the Clean Development Mechanism and the key requirements for successfully embarking on such projects are introduced. Potential opportunities for South African mining companies are highlighted. An explanation of national legal authorisation requirements will follow with reference to a hypothetical coal bed methane capture project as a case study. Issues such...

This article contains one NVivo 10® file with the complete 432 projects design documents (PDD) of seven waste management sector industries registered as Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Kyoto Protocol Initiative from 2004 to 2014. All data analyses and sample statistics made during the research remain in the file. We coded PD...
متن کاملToward Carbon Governance
Nations, regions, local communities and individuals are currently moving toward or are in the process of implementing actions to reduce carbon dioxide emissions because of concern over global warming (Moser this issue). Managing “carbon sinks,” i.e. deliberately storing carbon in land vegetation and soils or ocean waters, has been strongly promoted and accepted by some as a mechanism to accompl...
متن کاملReducing Emissions from Deforestaton and Forest Degradation (REDD+) – What is Behind the Idea and What is the Role of UN-REDD and Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF)?
Background and purpose: Although greenhouse gases related with the Land Use, Land Use Changes and the Forestry (LULUCF) represent approximately 15-20% of all greenhouse gases emissions to the atmosphere, afforestation/reforestation projects of Kyoto protocol related Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) represents only 0.75% of all CDM projects. All these facts prompted re-negotiation of climate ch...
